Our work started in 2009 with a pilot project offering eight participants an intensive three-month introduction into mindfulness. Claire Genkai Breeze designed and led this project, drawing from her experience as both an executive coach and a Zen Buddhist teacher.

Sally Bogle and Nick Mabey joined her in 2010, and the three designed and ran a series of mindfulness retreats based on their own experiences of their practice. They called the group theother980, referring to the number of waking (and potentially mindful) minutes left in a day if 20 are spent in meditation. (Nick’s a bit of a maths wiz.)

Now, as The Mindful Life, we celebrate our beginnings and our successes, and everyone who has contributed and participated in making it all possible. And we look forward to broader offerings, both in geography and in content, and to ever better accessibility for new participants.

We are grateful to Relume, who have supported us in many ways since our early beginnings.
